India v England, 3rd Test, Day 2 – Statistical Highlights

From 148/2 at Tea break, India went down to 156/5 in space of 3 overs. Captain Kohli got out for 62 leaving his side at 204/6. But Ravi Ashwin came to rescue his team once again with the bat, this time along with Ravindra Jadeja by putting on an unbeaten stand of 67 at stumps on day 2. Ashwin brought up his 5th fifty plus score this year in Tests as India finished the day at 271/6, trailing England’s first innings total of 283 by just 12 runs. 2 – Ravichandran Ashwin became the 2nd player to have 5 or more fifty-plus scores and 5 or more five-wicket hauls in Test cricket in a calendar year. Daniel Vettori achieved this double in 2008.
