India took an inaccessible lead of 2-0 in the 5-match Test series against England following an 8-wicket win in the 3rd Test at the Mohali. Joe Root and Haseeb Hameed’s fifties helped England to avoid an innings defeat on the 4th day and take a 102-run lead. India lost wickets of Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara but a quick-fire fifty from Parthiv Patel ensured they ended the proceedings quickly and without any more hiccups. 1 – Haseeb Hameed became the first England batsman to score multiple fifties as a teenager in Tests.

17 – Consecutive matches played by India at home without being defeated, their 2nd longest unbeaten run at home in Tests. Longest is 20 in a row from 1977 to 1980.

23.31 – Average runs scored for a wicket by any team after losing 6 wickets in Tests against India since 2013, the highest against any team in this period.

39 – Balls taken by Parthiv Patel for his fifty, the fastest fifty in Tests by an Indian since Virender Sehwag’s 36-ball fifty vs Australia in 2012 at Adelaide, also in the 4th inning.

405 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in this series so far. This is the 2nd time Kohli has aggregated 400+ runs in a Test series as captain. Sunil Gavaskar is only the other captain to score 400+ runs as captain in a Test series twice. Gavaskar did that in 5 series.

640 – Balls faced by Haseeb Hameed in Tests in India so far, the most by any visiting teenager in India. Previous most was 598 balls by Kraigg Brathwaite.

2002 – Last time an Indian before Parthiv Patel managed to keep wickets and open in both innings of a Test match was Deep Dasgupta in 2002 vs Zimbabwe at Delhi.

2013 – Last time before this Test, India won a Test while batting in the 4th innings was in 2013 vs Australia at Delhi.
