England added quick runs despite losing wickets in the 2nd innings after Virat Kohli’s double ton and Jayant Yadav’s maiden century on day 4 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Team India took a first innings lead of 231 runs thanks to a marathon stand for the 8th wicket.

England were 3 down for just 49 in their 2nd innings before half centuries from two of their most reliable batsmen Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow took them to 182/6 by end of the day. Here we look at all the stats and records conquered during the day’s play.

1 – Keaton Jennings became the first player in history to score a century and bag a golden duck on Test debut.

1 – Jayant Yadav became the 1st Indian and 19th player overall to score a century in Tests while coming to bat at No.9 or lower.

10 – Number of Tests Joe Root has played so far against India. He has scored at least one fifty in all the 10 Tests.

102 – Wickets taken by Ravindra Jadeja in Test cricket. He took 24 matches for his milestone.

192 – Runs conceded by Adil Rashid, the 3rd most by any England bowler in a Test innings. Only two England bowlers conceded more than 200 runs in a Test innings.

221 – Jayant Yadav’s aggregate of 221 runs in this series is the most for a No.9 or lower batsman in his debut Test series. Australia’s Albert Trott scored 205 runs in 1895 series vs Australia.

231 – India’s 1st innings lead of 231 in this Test is the 2nd highest 1st innings lead India have taken after bowling first and conceding 400+. Highest is 256 vs Sri Lanka at Kanpur in 1986.

241 – Kohli-Jayant’s partnership stand of 241 for the 8th wicket is the highest stand for India for 8th or lower wicket in Test cricket. Previous highest was 161 by Azharuddin-Kumble in 1996 vs South Africa at Kolkata for the 8th wicket.

243 – Wickets taken by Ravichandran Ashwin in Test cricket, the 6th most by any Indian in this format.

362 – Runs scored by both teams on day 4, the 2nd most on the 4th day in a Test match in India. Highest is 369 runs in India-Pakistan Test at Kolkata in 2005.

631 – India’s total of 631/10 is their 2nd highest total against England in Tests and the highest at home against them. Highest is 664 in 2007 at The Oval.

631 – India’s total of 631/10 is the highest total for any team at the Wankhede in Tests. Previous highest is 604/6 by West Indies vs India in 1975.

2011 – Last time Team India posted 600+ total in a Test before this was in 2011 vs West Indies at Kolkata. India posted 631/7 in that Test.
