New Zealand’s nightmarish tour to India continues as we enter the end of the October month. Having won just one game in the tour so far, the Kiwis still have a chance to claim the ODI series, but for that to happen, the visitors will have to up there performance and win the next 2 games, starting from the one in Dhoni’s hometown, Ranchi today.

So, before the game commences, let’s take a look at some of the interesting trivia involving Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni:

  • As if the humiliating losses weren’t enough, even the luck doesn’t seem to be on Kane Williamson’s side in India. Otherwise, how often do you see a captain losing all of the tosses on tour?

Now, having lost 6 tosses in a row (3 in Test matches and now 3 in ODIs), Williamson would be looking to turn his fortunes at Ranchi today.

  • Arguably the best batsman in the world right now, (at least in the shorter format certainly) Virat Kohli has been scoring runs like its on sale at a supermarket. While, the sales die down eventually, kohli has been going strong for the last 5 years and the batsman just needs 40 runs to complete 7500 runs in ODIs.

The 27-year-old will be the quickest to do so (in 167 innings) snatching the record from the mighty AB de Villiers who took 174 innings to reach this landmark!

  • Again, we are witnessing a legend in the making, arguably one of the greatest chasers of all time. Currently sharing the record with Sachin Tendulkar with 14 hundreds, Virat Kohli has the chance to break Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds in the successful chases. Knowing Kohli, it’s not going to take much time anyway.
  • Talking about legends, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has the chance to break another record in his hometown Ranchi today. The 34-year-old is just 67 runs short of reaching 4000 runs in ODIs in India and will be the just second Indian batsman to do so after Sachin Tendulkar (6976).
