Watch: India v Pakistan T20 World Cup 2007 final last over and winning moments: A World Cup final and an India v Pakistan contest one can simply not ask for something spicier. The inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup saw both the Asian teams out class most of their opponents to make their way to the ultimate battle of it all and thus it was time for this epic tie to decide the winner of the first ever T20 World Cup in 2007.
It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni and a young team at one end and Misbah-ul-Haq’s dangerous looking Pakistan side at the other side. The tension rose as the match went down to the wire. Pakistan looked in a better position with skipper Misbah batting there unbeaten on 37 from 35 balls and was ominous as the bowler Dhoni opted to bowl the final over was the rookie Joginder Sharma.

Here we have the commentary of the final over to help you relive the moments.

Pakistan need 13 runs to win from 6 balls.

19.1 – J Sharma to Misbah-ul-Haq,

1 wide, short of length and the ball goes way too far outside the off stump. In fact out of the pitch. One can see nerves getting the better of Joginder Sharma.

With that wide, 12 runs needed from 6 balls.

19.1 – J Sharma to Misbah-ul-Haq,

No run, short of good length delivery and is outside the off stump. Misbah plays it but misses, the tension rises.

Pakistan need 12 runs from 5 balls.

19.2 – J Sharma to Misbah-ul-Haq,

Six, full-toss outside the off stump, Sharma errs in line, the wrong length to bowl in the ultimate over. Misbah keeps himself cool, gets himself in the perfect position and puts it right back over the bowler for a straight six.

6 runs needed from 4 balls.

19.3 – J Sharma to Misbah-ul-Haq,

OUT, Misbah goes for the scoop shot, and finds S Sreesanth standing at short fine leg.

India win the match and the World Cup! It’s all over for Pakistan. Misbah attempted a risky shot with only 6 runs needed from 4 balls and it doesn’t pay off. The ball went straight up in the air and Sreesanth takes an easy catch; manages to keep it safe even with a fumble.

India won the final of the T20 World Cup 2007 by 5 runs.
