The troubled times do not cease to end for the Sri Lankan team. They recently lost the Nagpur Test against the hosts India. Now, before heading in to the third and the final Test of the series, their star bowler Rangana Herath has been ruled out of the match. Herath has been one of the key members in the Sri Lankan side in the recent times.

Currently, he is the seniormost member of the national setup. In such troubled times, the team desperately wanted someone like Rangana Herath to stay in the side to guide the youngsters in the team. The recent reports suggest that Herath has been ruled out of the third Test owing to a back problem. He complained about the sore back after the conclusion of the second Test.

The team management certainly do not wish to risk their seniormost player. Hence, they have released him from the squad. Young spinner Jefferey Vandersay has been named as the replacement of Rangana Herath for the final Test.

Commenting on the plight of the series, the visitors are staring right back at another potential series defeat. The team had started off the tour showing great promise on the first day of the Kolkata Test. They had given the Indian team a run for their money in the match as they dictated the terms in the first innings of both the sides in the match.

However, a fine century from Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the second innings helped team India almost eke out a win in the game. The match eventually ended in a draw. In the Nagpur Test, the islanders were brutally beaten by the hosts. A crushing defeat by an innings and 239 runs beckoned their ways as the number one team outplayed them in all the three departments of the game.
