India didn’t have the best of outings in the two-match T20I series and lost it 2-0. In both the encounters in Visakhapatnam and Bangalore, the Virat Kohli-captained team had the opposition by the scruff of its neck, but the visitors had the answers to the questions posed by the Men in Blue. The Aussies were the underdogs and they undoubtedly punched above their weight to emerge victorious.

The focus now shifts to the five ODIs, the first of which is scheduled to be played tomorrow at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Albeit Australia won the T20I series, the teams’ form in the 50-overs format has been a tad contrasting. However, ahead of the encounter, Aaron Finch and Co can take heart from the fact that India have never beaten them at the particular venue.

Pitch and Conditions

The track at the venue has been fairly good for batting and it’s expected to be no different even in tomorrow’s match. Both teams’ batsmen are in excellent form and batting second has to be the way forward also bearing in mind the role dew is expected to play in the second half of the game.

Team Combination

India

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are the opening batsmen with Virat Kohli at number three. Ambati Rayudu would bat at four. The packed top-order also means that KL Rahul may have to sit out. The focus will also be on Rishabh Pant to deliver. The team is likely to field Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as the fast bowlers with Shankar as the all-rounder. Chahal and Kuldeep are the spinners.

Probable XI

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (C), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (wk), Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah

Australia

Aaron Finch and Alex Carey are the opening pair with Usman Khawaja at three. Ashton Turner is likely to make his debut as Shaun Marsh won’t play due to a hamstring injury. Handscomb, Maxwell and Stoinis add depth to the batting order. Pat Cummins, Nathan Coulter Nile and Jhye Richardson are the fast bowlers. One of either Nathan Lyon or Adam Zampa will play the encounter.

Probable XI

Aaron Finch (C), Alex Carey, Usman Khawaja, Ashton Turner, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Jhye Richardson, Pat Cummins, Nathan Coulter Nile, Nathan Lyon/Adam Zampa
