The Indian Armed Forces (IAF) presently are going through a tough phase owing to their heated exchanges with Pakistan over the last few days. On Thursday, February 14, at least 44 CRPF personnel lost their lives owing to a terrorist attack by Pakistan-based militant organization Jaish-e-Mohammad at the Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident was condemned by many and a lot of people talked about cutting off all ties with Pakistan. Even cricketers came out, opining about the boycott of India’s World Cup match against their arch-rivals on Sunday, June 16 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also trying hard to boycott their neighbours.
A heartfelt step from Team India
In the meantime, the Indian cricket team, captained by the enigmatic Virat Kohli, took a heartfelt step. The Men in Blue are currently playing a five-match ODI series against Aaron Finch’s men and are leading it 2-0. They are playing the third encounter at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, which also happens to be the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni’s home ground.
In the contest, the home team’s players decided to don the camouflaged caps in order to pay tribute to the army. Lieutenant Colonel Dhoni, who’s with the Territorial Army, distributed the caps to the team members before the start of the game.
An official of the BCCI also talked about the 37-year-old Jharkhand-born’s love for the brave soldiers. While Dhoni gave away the caps, Kedar Jadhav, the Player of the Match of the game in Hyderabad, gave him a grand salute.
The official Instagram handle of the Indian team posted a video on the social media. It captioned the video and wrote, “#TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces. And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs,
#JaiHind,”
