The Bangladesh Cricket Team is all set to tour their Asian big brothers for three T20Is and a couple of Tests. The visitors had announced a fifteen-member squad for the IT20s against India but if the latest developments are to be believed, they are set to miss the services of their fast bowling spearhead, Mohammad Saifuddin. Saifuddin was included in the squad earlier. But the team management is now forced to delve into other alternatives following the latest scan reports of the fast bowling all-rounder.

Delving on the Saifuddin’s injury, BCB chief selector reckoned that the selection committee will talk to physiotherapist Julian to take a final decision on the fast bowler. However, he feels that it would not be possible for Saifuddin to participate in the IT20 series in India.

Back issues continue to plague Mohammad Saifuddin’s career

“I don’t think he will be able to play [against India in the T20 series]. We will talk with Julian [physio] tomorrow to take a final decision, but what I understand is that it won’t be possible for him to take part in the T20 series.” Bangladesh Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Back issues continue to shape up as a serious threat to the long-term career prospect of Mohammad Saifuddin. The right-handed fast bowling spearhead of Bangladesh played with pain killers in the 2019 World Cup in England. The seaming all-rounder was named for the ODI series in Sri Lanka but was ruled out. Subsequently, he was also picked in the Twenty20 Tri-nation series with Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, only for the injury to resurface later.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh named a 15-member squad for the series against India last week. In a team led by Shakib Al Hasan, the selectors included left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny and fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain, while Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal have also made their respective comebacks.

The three-match T20I series is set to commence on November 3 in Delhi with the other two matches to be played in Rajkot and Nagpur on November 7 and 10 respectively. The Test series is scheduled to begin on November 14 in Kolkata.
