England have registered an emphatic win against the hosts in the third T20I of the five-match series being played in Ahmedabad. The visitors chased down the required target of 157 runs in 18.2 overs winning the game by 8 wickets. India had a terrible start in the first innings as they lost their first 3 wickets for only 24 runs. The Indian captain Virat Kohli played a magnificent knock of 77 runs off 46 balls to help the team reach a fighting total of 156/6. Mark Wood picked up 3 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing this total, England looked ahead in the game for the most part of their innings. Jos Buttler played a match-winning knock for them scoring 83 runs off 52 balls. This included 5 fours and 4 sixes in total. England have now taken a lead of 2-1 in the series.

Another duck for KL Rahul

1 – For the second consecutive innings, KL Rahul got out without scoring a run. This is the first time that an Indian opener has got out for a duck in consecutive innings. 

4 – Rahul now has 4 ducks as an opener in T20Is which is joint-most for India along with Rohit Sharma. 

Big milestones for King Kohli

11 – Virat Kohli registered his eleventh 50+ score in T20I as captain and equalled Kiwi captain Kane Williamson in this regard to reach the joint top spot. Australian captain Aaron Finch is in the second position with ten 50+ scores in T20Is.

132 – Virat smashed 4 sixes in his brilliant knock after which his sixes tally as an Indian captain has reached 132. He equalled Sourav Ganguly among Indian captains and is only behind MS Dhoni(211) now.  

50 – This was Virat’s 50th international innings in which he scored over 50 runs and remained unbeaten till the end. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in this particular regard to become number 1 Indian and is at the third position in the overall record after Jacques Kallis (64) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (56).

1421 – Virat’s run tally as T20I captain has now reached 1421, and he surpassed Kane Williamson(1383). Now, only Aaron Finch (1462) is ahead of him.     

Jos Buttler’s records

1554 – Jos Buttler now has 1554 runs in T20Is as a wicketkeeper after which he has become just the third wicketkeeper to score over 1500 runs in the shortest format. Mohammad Shahzad (1918) and MS Dhoni (1617) are the other two players.

212 – The English wicketkeeper smacked 4 sixes in his wonderful knock. He has 212 sixes in international cricket as a wicketkeeper now and crossed over Brendon McCullum (208) during his innings to attain the third spot.

50 – The attacking batsman registered his 50th score of over 50 runs in international cricket as wicketkeeper in this innings, and became the second English keeper to achieve the landmark.

11- In T20Is, Buttler toppled Dawid Malan in terms of 50+ scores among English players to attain the second spot. 

1662 – The prolific batsman also surpassed Alex Hales (1644) in terms of T20I runs. With 1662 runs in 69 innings, Buttler is second on the list after Eoin Morgan(2306) among English players.   

83* – Jos Buttler’s score of 83 runs in this game is the third-highest individual score by a wicketkeeper against India in T20Is.

Other landmarks in the match

70 – The 70-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya is the highest ever for the sixth wicket for India in T20Is.    

100  – Eoin Morgan became the first English player to feature in 100 T20Is.  

1018 – Jonny Bairstow has aggregated 1018 runs in T20Is and became the fifth English player to cross the 1000-run mark.
