Team India is playing Essex in the only warm-up game ahead of the five-match Test series in England. Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost two quick wickets and the big man was out there in the middle very early in the morning. Kohli took his time and got used to the conditions and the bowling. Once he was in flow it was a beautiful sight as the Indian captain hit 12 boundaries during his stay.

But just when he looked good for a big knock, he was out caught in first slip playing a really wide delivery outside the off-stump. Paul Walter ran in to bowl the fifth ball of the 45th over bowling left-arm over the wicket at Kohli. It was pitched outside his off-stump at length, he had to push forward to reach and all the Indian skipper managed was to edge it. Varun Chopra standing at first slip took a regulation catch and off they were celebrating.

Why this wicket will be highlighted has a lot to do with the fact that Kohli was out caught behind the wicket most times on the last tour in 2014. It was identified and exploited as his weakness which was the primary reason he could just average 14 at the end of the series. He has worked a lot on his game since and tries not to pursue the ones that are far from his body. However, this time around batting on 68 from 93 balls he fished and had to pay the price.

Essex shared the video on their Twitter handle soon after:

As far as the rest of the Indian batting is concerned, Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara got out for scores of 0 and 1. Murali Vijay was patient and played out a lot of deliveries though he was dismissed soon after getting to his half century, it was a good enough knock. Ajinkya Rahane at No.5 could only make a contribution worth 17 and at the moment, KL Rahul is batting alongside Dinesh Karthik and they have scored 37 and 19 runs respectively.
