Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul. While Indian bowlers would have hoped to make some early inroads, both Kiwi openers Will Young and Tom Latham batted brilliantly and added 129 runs for the first wicket.

“They got off to a good start obviously but it’s important for us to not leak runs because the cracks are opening up and it should get trickier tomorrow,” said the 26-year-old.
