New Zealand proved again in the contest against India as to why they are considered a really strong team as compared to other teams in this tournament. After the comprehensive series win against Australia in Australia and the 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka and by winning the Asia Cup also, India have announced themselves that they are ready to win the World T20 also but now India have lost their first match against New Zealand by 47 runs at Nagpur and it will be tough for them to comeback as here we look at how Indian players have performed in their first World T20 match of 2016 against New Zealand and for that we have rated them out of 10.

Rohit Sharma: 1/10

Rohit Sharma was came into this match with a solid form with 337 runs under his belt in 2016 but in the first match of India against New Zealand in ICC World T20 2016, he did not make an impact as he tried to attack to left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner by stepping out of the crease and the ball turned and he was stumped by Ronchi and India lost a key wicket of Rohit Sharma inside 2 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan: 1/10

Shikhar Dhawan has proved himself in the final match of Asia Cup and in the warmup match against South Africa by scoring two fifties and therefore he was in the team. Shikhar Dhawan do not play off-spinners well and that New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson seemed to aware of it and he started with Nathan McCullum and Shikhar was gone while trying to sweep him and now he has made life tougher for him surely if he will not click in the next game against Pakistan.

Virat Kohli: 4/10

Virat Kohli was in supreme form ahead of today’s match but Nagpur wicket was different and he also took his time and played carefully when New Zealand spinners were bowling well but from other end wickets were falling and that put pressure on Virat Kohli and he was out while trying to play a cover-drive to leg-spinner by edging the ball to keeper Luke Ronchi and made whole Indian fans silent. Virat Kohli scored 23 from 27 runs against New Zealand.

Suresh Raina: 5/10

Suresh Raina is a part-time spinner that we all know but in this match against New Zealand, he has bowled like a regular spinner and taken a wicket of New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and he also made one brilliant runout of Ross Taylor when he was set and that helped India to restrict New Zealand under 130 but he disappointed everyone when he came to bat and out in the bowling of Santner in the same over in which Rohit was out. Suresh Raina was out by scoring just 1 run from 2 balls.

Yuvraj Singh: 1/10

Yuvraj Singh has not played a big innings since his comeback into the Indian team and this was his chance to make it big bit he did not capitalize on it once again as he was out in the bowling of Nathan McCullum caught and bowled by scoring just 4 runs and put India into a big trouble. He is also weak against off-spinners and that has been proved by him today once again.

MS Dhoni: 4/10

From the start of the day to the end of the day, it was a bad day for Dhoni as he lost an all-important toss and New Zealand opted to bat first on a turning wicket and posted 126 runs because Dhoni made some interesting decisions and those were somehow backed off by bowlers and when he came into bat India lost 4 wickets and he tried hard to turn the match with his tactics but nobody supported him from the other end as he was out for 30 runs at last and India lost the match by 47 runs.

Hardik Pandya: 2/10

Hardik Pandya is known as a batting all-rounder but he has bowled well and picked up wickets in his short career but in this match MS Dhoni did not give him that much chance as he bowled only one over and he gave away 10 runs and after that he did not came into ball but when he came into bat at that point of time, India were 5 down and he can be the hero but he was out on 1 runs and destroyed Indian fans hopes of winning the match.

Ravindra Jadeja: 3/10

Ravi Jadeja is an asset for India in shorter versions and particular Jadeja-the fielder as he fielder well throughout the match and also picked up a crucial wicket of Mitchell Santer when he was looking dangerous and that showed Jadeja is more than a handy bowling all-rounder for India at the moment but he did not made any contribution with the bat and that is a big worry for India as India will take on Pakistan in their next match on March 19, 2016 at Kolkata.

Ravichandran Ashwin: 3/10

Ravi Ashwin has been India’s best bowler by far in the last year and in today’s game he came into ball in the very first over and Guptill hit him for a six but he came back well and took a wicket of Guptill in the very next ball but overall if we compare him with other New Zealand spinners and Jadeja and Raina then he bowled badly as he took only one wicket and gave away 32 runs from his 4 overs and in the end it cost India a match.

Jasprit Bumrah: 7/10

JaspritBumrah has been sensational for India ever since he made his debut and we saw today how he bowled as he took a wicket and bowled economical oversfor India and with his accuracy, pace and uneasy action, he showed us that he can be a leader of Indian bowling attack in upcoming days.

Ashish Nehra: 5/10

Ashish Nehra showed why he has been picked by Indian selectors in India’s World Cup team as once again he took an early wicket and this time around it was of dangerous and inform Colin Munro as he also bowled one maiden in powerplay overs but it was in last over when he went for few runs but overall he bowled decently.
