Heinrich Klaasen played the role of the villain for India in the second T20I in Cuttack as the Proteas defeated Rishabh Pant and his side by four wickets to go 2-0 up in the series. Wicketkeeper-batter Klaasen, who replaced the injured Quinton de Kock in the playing XI, smashed 81 off just 46 with seven fours and five towering sixes to help South Africa in chasing down the target of 149 in just 18.2 overs. The third of the five-match series takes place at the Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on June 14, 2022.

If it was Miller and van der Dussen in the first T20I, then it was Klaasen’s turn to deny the hosts a victory in the second encounter. Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Dinesh Karthik all scored 30 or more runs which helped India in reaching a total of over 140 in their allotted 20 overs. The rest of the batting line-up failed to contribute with Ruturaj Gaikwad’s form becoming a worrisome factor for the Men in Blue. He has managed to score only 63 runs in his T20I career so far but with KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma all missing the series, it presents a perfect opportunity for Gaikwad to grab his chance.

With series on the line, he along with Ishan will look to provide their team a solid start in Visakhapatnam. India may also look to bring Deepak Hooda in place of Axar Patel for the do-or-die clash. The visitors are looking in great touch with some of their players carrying their recent Indian Premier League (IPL) form into the T20 internationals. Temba Bavuma and his Proteas side will hope to seal the series with a victory here while Pant and his men would like to keep the series alive by avoiding a third-straight defeat.
