The series is levelled at 1-1 and the fourth ODI has gained an immense importance with India’s home record in danger in the ODIs. The men under the scanner are India’s middle-order and most importantly, the veteran MS Dhoni. His exploits in the limited-overs format are far from few in the last 12 months. After being dropped from the T20I squads recently, Dhoni is clearly under the pressure to perform in the upcoming two matches and the senior pro is sweating it out in the nets.

Dhoni was left out from the T20 team for the upcoming series against the Windies and Australia. The chief selector MSK Prasad cleared that they are looking for the second wicketkeeper and the contest is between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik at the moment. To add to his agony, Dhoni also failed in Pune when his team needed him the most to win the game and take an unassailable lead.

Dhoni bats for more than 45 minutes

According to the Times of India, MS Dhoni was one of the very few players who came out to bat in the net session on Sunday at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai. He batted for more than 45 minutes during the optional practice session facing the local bowlers. The 37-year-old was also seen having a brief chat with the assistant coach Sanjay Bangar probably about his batting.

The other players who practised hard were Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Even Kedar Jadhav also honed his skills as he will be keen to make a comeback in Mumbai after injuring himself during the Asia Cup final.

More than anything, currently, Team India will be happy to see MS Dhoni coming back in form with the bat in the next game. If that happens, half of the problems will be solved for them ahead of the World Cup.
