The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has decided to slash prices of high denomination tickets for the second ODI between India and Windies scheduled in Vishakhapatnam on October 24. The second ODI was originally scheduled at Indore’s Holkar Stadium but the Madhya Pradesh state cricket association backed out over the new complimentary tickets rule of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the game was shifted to Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam.

The ACA authorities decided to abide by the BCCI’s new free ticket rules and accepted to put up 90 per cent of their tickets for public sale. It will now sell 24,000 tickets while 3,500 will be given as complimentary passes. The total capacity of the stadium is 27,500.

“We are also planning to sell some 6,000 tickets through 10 offline counters at various places in the city,” M T Krishna Babu, chairman of the organising committee of the match, was quoted as saying by The Hindu. The tickets will be sold from October 15 and a majority of them will be sold online.

Ticket prices slashed for Vizag ODI

According to a Uni India report, the ticket denomination for the second ODI has been reduced from Rs 6,000 to Rs 4,000 while those of Rs 3,500 have been reduced to Rs 2,500. Tickets priced at Rs 2,500 will be sold at Rs 2,000. The rest of the tickets have been priced at Rs 1,800, Rs 1,200, Rs 750, Rs 500 and Rs 250.

Other state cricket associations like Tamil Nadu and West Bengal that are also set to host games during the Windies tour have also raised concerns over the BCCI’s new rule. The ACA’s stand will give the BCCI a comfort. The Windies are currently playing a two-Test series against India and have already lost the first one in Rajkot by an innings and 272 runs. The second Test will begin in Hyderabad on October 12.

They will play five ODIs and three T20Is after the Test series gets over.
