Rajasthan Cricket suffered a major blow on Saturday (July 18) with India batter Priya Punia deciding to part ways with the state team. Punia has been impressive in his short international career and her numbers in domestic cricket aren’t ordinary as well. Hence, her ouster isn’t a great piece of news for the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). It is learnt that Punia’s decision is prompted by RCA’s treatment towards her.

Punia’s father and coach Surendra Punia said that RCA failed to keep up with the promises which they made while bagging the young cricketer’s services. He also claimed that officials of the cricket body weren’t responding to his calls recently. Disappointed by the behavior of the office bearers, Punia decided to end all ties with the state team.

“The promises made by the RCA while hiring Priya’s services as a professional were not kept. In the last few days when I tried getting in touch with RCA office bearers, some did not take my call and others avoided talking about the problems we were facing with the association,” Times of India quoted Surendra Punia as per saying.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old cricketer switched from Delhi to Rajasthan during the last domestic season. Speaking of her further plans, Punia said she hasn’t decided about her next state team. “I have not yet decided which state I will represent in the domestic season 2021-22,” said Punia.

Notably, Punia, who made her international debut in February 2019, has so far represented India in 10 international matches. While the youngster hasn’t been able to do much in three T20Is, she slammed 225 runs in seven ODI matches with her highest score being 75. She also plays for Supernovas in the Women’s T20 Challenge.

Meanwhile, the batter didn’t get to play any game in India’s recently-concluded tour of England. Although Priya was in the squad, she didn’t get a place in the final XI. Hence, the talented cricketer must find a new state team soon to shine in the domestic circuit and make her case stronger for a place in Team India playing XI.
