The cricket fraternity was shocked on Wednesday when ICC banned former Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak for eight years from all forms of the game for breaching the Anti-Corruption Code. Streak was accused of leaking inside information to a bookie during his stints with the national team and other T20 leagues.

Apart from being the head coach of the Zimbabwe team, Streak has also worked as the bowling coach of KKR during one of the previous IPL seasons. He was also a part of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and it has been understood that he had leaked team information outside.

Now according to the reports in Cricket Pakistan, it has also been known that the Indian bookie had tasked Streak to identify the individuals who could be used for corrupt activities during the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Interestingly, the former Zimbabwe cricketer hasn’t been part of the PSL in any capacity ever.

Heath Streak didn’t reveal any names during the investigation

The ICC had asked permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to initiate an investigation in PSL as it is a domestic T20 league. However, the matter didn’t go further as Heath Streak didn’t reveal any names in the investigation.

As far as Streak is concerned, he has admitted to five breaches to the ICC and agreed to the sanction imposed on him on April 14. The charges against him included leaking inside information that could be used for betting purposes. Moreover, he also failed to disclose a transaction of bitcoins from a potential bookie during the investigation.

Heath Streak is a legendary cricketer from Zimbabwe having represented his country in 65 Tests and 189 ODIs picking 216 and 239 wickets respectively. He also scored 1990 and 2943 runs in Tests and ODIs and was also the coach of Zimbabwe from 2016 to 2018. The games in question at the moment are several international matches in 2018 and the T20 leagues played in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
