Virat Kohli is currently plying his trade in the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. After leading the Men in Blue to victory in their first match against South Africa at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, Kohli would be high in confidence. India’s next match is against Australia on June 9 at the Kennington Oval in London. In the meantime, Kohli has found himself in a bit of trouble.

He has gotten into a tussle with the Gurugram municipal corporation. The authorities have issued a Challan against him for wastage of drinking water at a time of washing his cars outside his house, which is located in DLF Phase 1 of Gurugram. Kohli was imposed with a fine of Rs 500. The municipal corporation officers arrived when Kohli’s domestic help was washing the cars with drinking water.

Adverse weather conditions in North India

The 30-year-old’s neighbors complained that nearly half a dozen cars, including a couple of SUVs, are parked in Kohli’s home and a thousand liters of water is wasted as per reports in DNA. The temperature in Delhi is hovering around the 45 degrees Celsius for the last few days and due to the severe heat condition, North India has been a witness to an acute water shortage in several parts of the country.

Gurugram also is going through the same problem. The officials also informed that Kohli’s residence wasn’t the only one that was imposed with a Challan. There were ten other houses which were imposed with the fines by the Municipal Corporation. The Gurugram Corporation Commissioner has issued a warning, saying that wastage of water won’t be tolerated and strict action will be taken.

As far as Kohli’s World Cup journey is concerned, he didn’t have a great outing in India’s opener versus the Proteas, though his team won the match. The Delhi-born could only manage 18 off 34 balls with one boundary before getting out to Andile Phehlukwayo, caught by Quinton de Kock behind the wickets. He also didn’t perform to expectations in the warm-ups and India would be hoping for him to find rhythm.
