As the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is approaching its business end, the race to playoffs has become more intense and competitive. After 50 matches of the league stage have been completed, only Mumbai Indians have officially qualified for the playoffs. Though the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are favourites to make it to the top 4, IPL 2020 is a weird season and one never can predict the results.
Now, the veteran Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha opined on which four franchises will play in the qualifiers to claim the IPL 2020 title. Instead of going with his cricketing brain, the spinner relied on his emotions to predict that the teams led by ‘Indian captains’, MI, RCB, DC and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will make it to the playoffs, starting November 5.
“As I’ve been saying, this has been a weird season as far as the IPL is concerned and it’s very different this year. So I’m not going with my cricketing brain [to pick the playoffs qualifying teams]. I’m going with my emotion and I want all my Indian captains to be doing well.
So it will be MI [Mumbai Indians], obviously you know, now Pollard is leading[ in Rohit’s absence] but Rohit is the captain. Next is DC [Delhi Capitals] with Shreyas Iyer as captain, then RCB with Virat Kohli as captain, and then Kings XI Punjab led by KL Rahul,” a smiling Pragyan Ojha said on Sports Today.
It will all depend on how Shreyas Iyers leads the team: Pragyan Ojha
Mumbai is sitting at the top of the points table with 18 points in 13 games while both RCB and DC are placed at 2nd and 3rd spot respectively with 14 points in 13 games. Punjab, on the other hand, is at 5th position with 12 points in 13 games and have stiff competition from Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Further in the interaction, Pragyan reckoned that he will back Shreyas Iyer to take his team Delhi Capitals to the play-offs. Delhi are a tad bit low on confidence after losing four consecutive games.
