Indian cricketers begin their preparations at Headingley ahead of third Test against England

All eyes of the Indian cricket fans will turn to Headingley, as Virat Kohli’s men and Joe Root’s men will clash against each other in the third Test match of the five-match series. The third Test between the two sides will commence on 25th August 2021.

And, the Indian cricket team is currently at Headingley as the players are gearing up for the third Test match. The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), tweeted a picture of the Headingley Stadium.

“Hello and welcome to the Headingley Stadium, Leeds. Our venue for the 3rd Test against England,” tweeted the official handle of the BCCI.

India thrashed England by 151 runs in the second Test match at Lord’s

In the second Test match, the Indian cricket team pulverized the England side and beat them by a margin of 151 runs. It was a complete team effort from the Indian side that allowed them to post a victory over England at the ‘Home of Cricket’.

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma laid the foundation for the Indian side with the willow in the first innings. While Rahul etched his name in the Lord’s Honours Board by scoring a fluent 129 off 250 deliveries, the ‘Hitman’ scored a 145-ball 83. The opening duo helped India notch up a total of 364 runs in the first innings.

Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj then teamed up with the ball, and scalped 7 wickets between them, as England scored 391 runs in their first innings. Ajinkya Rahane stepped up for India in the second innings and scored a composed 61 off 146 deliveries. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami also contributed for the Virat Kohli-led side with the bat in hand, by scoring 34* and 56* respectively.

The Indian pace bowlers then produced a riveting performance with the red cherry in hand, as England were bowled out for a paltry total of 120 runs in their second innings. While Mohammed Siraj picked up 4 wickets, Bumrah chipped in with 3 wickets, as India beat England to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Meanwhile, the England side has called up left-hander Dawid Malan to their Test squad ahead of the third Test match against the Indian side.
