Indian cricketing fraternity mourns the demise of CDS General Bipin Rawat

Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and his wife were among the 13 who were killed after the IAF chopper crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu.

Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and his wife were among the 13 who were killed after the IAF chopper they were traveling in crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, December 8. The unfortunate incident took place at a distance of about 10 km from the helipad where the helicopter was supposed to land. This left the whole of the country shocked as everybody came forward to express their deepest condolences.

The latest one to join the list is India’s star batter Virat Kohli. He took it to his official Twitter account to express his grief on the sudden unfortunate incident. Kohli expressed his sadness over the demise of Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and the other officials.

“Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of CDS Bipin Rawat Ji and other officials in a tragic helicopter crash. My deepest condolences to the friends & family members,” Kohli’s Tweet read.

The former India cricketer Virender Sehwag also expressed his gratitude to Gen. Bipin Rawat’s services to the nation while stating his pain on hearing the sad news of the helicopter crash.

“Extremely pained to hear about the passing away of Shri #BipinRawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and 11 army personnel in the tragic helicopter crash. Gratitude for his wonderful service to the nation,” Virender Sehwag wrote in his Tweet.

It is also been reported that Group captain Varun Singh from DSSC (Defence Services Staff College) was rescued from the site with 80 % burns. He is battling it out with his life. India’s former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also took it to his official Twitter account to offer his wishes to Varun Singh for his speedy recovery. He also shed light on Gen. Bipin Rawat’s commitment towards the nation and expressed his condolences to the departed souls.

“Gen. Bipin Rawat’s pride and utmost commitment for India was palpable. It’s a sad day for India and our defence forces. Prayers for the departed souls of Gen. Rawat, Mrs. Rawat, and all the defence forces personnel who were in this unfortunate incident. Praying for the speedy recovery of Gp Capt Varu Singh,” Sachin Tendulkar’s Tweet read.
