India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a bilateral series since 2012 when the former side had hosted their arch rivals in the ODI and T20I series. The political tensions between the two countries have kept the passionate cricket fans deprived of some quality contest between the two countries. These two teams locked horns recently in the final of ICC Champions Trophy when the Men in Green had won comprehensively. However, the Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria has cleared the contest would resume if the tensions ease out.

In the early 2000s, BCCI and PCB had organised a lot of bilateral series due to which the fans witnessed a lot of thrilling encounters. But ever since the terrorist attack on Mumbai in 2008, the Government has not changed its stance. Though there was a brief reprieve in 2012 when Pakistan toured India for 3 ODIs and a couple of T20 Internationals.

Good news for India-Pakistan fans

Saj Sadiq, the editor of Pak Passion, revealed the news on his official Twitter handle that Ajay Bisaria, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, is hopeful of the series between the two countries soon. “People from both countries want bilateral cricket to revive. People want to see India versus Pakistan, and I am hopeful of a contest on the cricket pitch as soon as tensions ease,” he said.

It was quite evident during the final of Champions Trophy last year that the players of both the teams share a special camaraderie with each other. They fight hard on the field but they are friends off it as well. There are several examples when the Indian and Pakistani cricketers have shared some special moments together. Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, himself admires Mohammad Amir a lot and had gifted him his bat. Also, after the final last year, the likes of Shoaib Malik, MS Dhoni and Kohli were seen having fun together as well.

It would be huge for the fans from both the countries if two of the best sides in the world continue to play in bilateral series again.
