A lot of talented players went under the hammer on Saturday for the inaugural edition of the Mumbai T20 League. The tournament is all set to commence on March 11 and the final will be played on 21st of the same month. Also, the star Indian cricketers who are from Mumbai are expected to feature in this league which will make the things more exciting. However, Shardul Thakur who recently performed extremely well in South Africa went unsold and will not play in the Mumbai T20 League this year.

Shardul Thakur has been picked in the Indian team for the upcoming Nidahas Trophy in which the Men in Blue will clash against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin on March 6 and will clash the schedule of Mumbai T20 League which seems to be the reason Thakur didn’t find any buyers. Having said that, Rohit Sharma who will lead the team in Sri Lanka was bought by Mumbai North West for Rs 6 Lakh.

Interestingly, he will also not be available for the major part of the tournament and will only feature in the final if his team qualifies for the title clash.

What about other star cricketers?

Aditya Tare, the captain of the Mumbai Ranji team, also went unsold as he sustained an injury during the D.Y Patil T20 Cup. Prithvi Shaw who led India U19 team to the glory in the recently concluded World Cup in New Zealand was snapped up by Mumbai North for a whopping amount of Rs 2.8 lakhs. He is also set to miss the major part of the tournament as he will be busy playing in the Irani Cup which will begin on March 14.

All the matches of the league will be played at the iconic and historic Wankhede Stadium. The tournament will also see some of the star former cricketers like Amol Muzumdar, Vinod Kambli, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Lalchand Rajput and Sameer Dighe associated with the teams as the mentor.
