The much anticipated India’s home series against Australia is set to start in a weeks time, and the Indian squad has been announced for the limited overs series. Once again Virat Kohli will lead the pack featuring Opener Rohit Sharma and in-form batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Chiman-bowler Kuldeep Yadav has retained his place after an impressive outing in Sri Lanka.

The Australian squad has reached Chennai, and they will take part in a practice match against the Board’s President XI on 12th September in Chennai. Steve Smith will lead the side while coach Darren Lehmann has taken a little break after the Bangladesh series. The Indian squad has been named for the first three ODIs of the 5-match series, starting on September 17 in Chennai.

Ashwin- Jadeja rested

Spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has not been included in the squad. The duo were rested due to the heavy workload they had gone through during India’s home season, starting last year. Ashwin is currently playing for Worcestershire in the Division two of the County cricket.

Opportunity for the likes of KL Rahul, Pandey

This will be a great opportunity for someone like KL Rahul to prove his mettle. Rahul failed to score big runs during the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Manish Pandey, on the other hand, grabbed the opportunity with both hands and scored an unbeaten 50 in the ODI series and remained not out in the one-off T20I game against Sri Lanka, bringing up his maiden fifty in T20I cricket.

Indian Squad: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jhadav, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami
