A comprehensive win over Chennai has given Hyderabad a new lease of life in the tournament. The win, against the top team of the league, put an end to a 3-match losing streak just at the right time. With 4 wins from 8 games, Hyderabad stand a very good chance to make it to the Play-Offs if they carry this momentum into the business end of the tournament.

Kolkata, on the other hand, find themselves in a spot of bother. They have lost 4 games in a row, the recent one against bottom-ranked Bangalore. Karthik’s men will have to do something special to stay afloat in the tournament when they travel to Hyderabad to face Kane Williamson’s men at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Sunday.

Warner, Bairstow, Russell, Rashid and Rana. All these players are in top form and must feature in most fantasy teams. It will be interesting to see how Rashid bowls at Russell. The first two games at this venue produced a high-scoring thriller while the following two were the opposite. The surface at this venue will help the slow bowlers and Kolkata have plenty of them in their ranks. Hyderabad will be tempted to get Shakib back in the side. With both teams desperate for those two points, this contest has the prospect of being another high-scoring cliffhanger.

Dotball team for Head to Head/Small Contests:

Wicket-keeper – Johnny Bairstow

Batsmen – Chris Lynn, Nitish Rana, David Warner (VC)

All-rounders – Andre Russell (C), Sunil Narine, Vijay Shankar

Bowlers – Khaleel Ahmed, Piyush Chawla, Sandeep Sharma and Rashid Khan

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Nobody has struck the ball cleaner then Russell has this season. He looks like bettering his own standards every game and gave Bangalore a mighty scare on Friday with a 25-ball 65. His flamboyance and stomach for a fight remains unmatched this year as he has gone on to amass 377 at 75.40 while striking at 220.46.

Vice-Captain: Warner has managed to post 6 fifty plus scores in 8 outings this season. His consistency despite missing a year out of top-flight cricket has been phenomenal. His ability to attack in the Powerplay and then slip into anchor mode has helped Hyderabad post tall scores.

Fantasy Tips

Khaleel Ahmed has made a telling comeback and will love bowling against Kolkata’s top order who hasn’t been at its best of late. With Hyderabad’s middle-order struggling, Vijay Shankar needs to contribute and take responsibility in the middle.

Dotball Team for Large/Grand Contests:

Wicket-keeper – Johnny Bairstow (C)

Batsmen – David Warner, Nitish Rana (VC), Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa

All-rounders – Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Vijay Shankar

Bowlers – Sandeep Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Rashid Khan

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Bairstow has taken the IPL like a fish to water. His enterprising knocks were the architect of most wins for Hyderabad this season. The wicket-keeper batsman has handled the spinners much better than most people thought. His nimble footwork will, therefore, keep him in good stead against Narine & Co.

Vice-Captain: Rana struck a handsome unbeaten 85 in Kolkata’s previous game to take his tally to 286 runs off 9 games this year. He is a good player of spin bowling and, being a left-hander, he will be a handy customer against the likes of Rashid and Shabaz

Fantasy Tips

Uthappa failed to get going against Bangalore and will hope to make amends this time. Narine will like bowling at this surface and will look to target the in-form Warner early in the innings.

Dream 11 Prediction

Suggested Playing XI No. 1 for Head to Head/Small Leagues

Wicket-keeper – Jonny Bairstow

Batsmen – Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, David Warner (C), Kane Williamson

All-Rounders – Sunil Narine, Andre Russell (VC), Vijay Shankar

Bowlers – Prasidh Krishna, Rashid Khan, Khaleel Ahmed

Fantasy Tips

Shubman Gill failed to capitalise on the chance he was provided at the top of the order. He will look to rectify that when that chance comes again. Williamson has to play a big hand if Hyderabad want to get those crucial two points.

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Grand/ Mega Leagues:

Wicket-keeper – Dinesh Karthik

Batsmen – Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn (VC), Yusuf Pathan, David Warner, Kane Williamson (C)

All-Rounders – Andre Russell, Vijay Shankar

Bowlers – Piyush Chawla, Harry Gurney, Khaleel Ahmed

Fantasy Tips

Barring a couple of fifties, Lynn hasn’t done much of note for Kolkata. Kolkata plays a lot better when Lynn provides flying starts to the team. Expect them to promote Russell in this encounter in a bid to end their run of defeats.
