The ‘El Clasico’ of the IPL will be the curtain raiser for the qualifiers this year as Chennai and Mumbai lock horns at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday in a bid to seal their spot in the finals and subsequently get one hand on the trophy. Their rivalry, which is one of the most popular ones in the IPL, has fairly been one-sided in the recent past as Mumbai completed the double over Chennai this year.

But just when everybody writes off Chennai, they have come back strongly and delivered the goods with minimum fuss. The fact that this isn’t a knockout game will ease the nerves in both camps. Chennai will have the home advantage but Mumbai have beaten them at this venue earlier in the season.

It is always tough to pick a fantasy team in a blockbuster clash. The two most indispensable members in any fantasy team must be Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni, both of whom have been in top form this year. Kieron Pollard is one player worth punting since he has a penchant for playing a crucial knock just when the team needs it. Like they traditionally always do, the spinners will play a pivotal role yet again in this contest. Mumbai hold the slightest of advantages due to their form and recent results. But Chennai know how to surmount such situations and come up triumphs.

Dotball Prediction:

Dotball team for Head to Head/Small Contests:

Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock

Batsmen: Faf Du Plessis, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina

All-Rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya (C), Krunal Pandya

Bowlers: Imran Tahir (VC), Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: While Pandya’s services with the bat wasn’t needed in Mumbai’s previous game against Kolkata, he struck vital blows with the ball and returned with 2 for 20. That is how the season has transpired for Pandya. If not with the bat, he will do it with the ball and vice-versa. His purple patch with the bat has helped Mumbai close out crucial games. Pandya is likely to stamp his authority at the big stage as well.

Vice-Captain: Tahir had a rare off day against Punjab in what has been a dream run for the leg spinner. 21 sticks from 14 games tells you how well he has bowled. An economy rate of 6.50 is a hallmark for his control, accuracy and consistency. He will love bowling against Rohit Sharma who has had problems against leg spinners in the recent past.

Fantasy Tips

Despite not producing the big innings, Suryakumar Yadav has been Mumbai’s mainstay in the top order for Mumbai and he repaid the faith when he struck a commanding 46* against Kolkata. He might be underrated but can inflict vital damage when he gets going.

Safe Captain Choices:

Hardik Pandya

Imran Tahir

Jasprit Bumrah

Risky Captain Choices:

Ravindra Jadeja

Quinton de Kock

Lasith Malinga

Dotball Team for Large/Grand Contests:

Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock (VC)

Batsmen: Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Keiron Pollard, Rohit Sharma

All-Rounders:  Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja (C)

Bowlers: Harbhajan Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Jadeja is already in the middle of one of his best seasons in the IPL where he has contributed with both bat and ball. He could play a massive role for Chennai in the middle order against the likes of Pandya and Chahar. His bowling will also be a handful at the Chepauk.

Vice-Captain: de Kock has been a model of consistency and is the top run-getter for Mumbai this year with 492 runs at 37.84. His strike rate of 133.33 reflects his intent at the top of the order. The stumper will be keen to play a big hand against Chennai’s not-so-very threatening new ball attack.

Fantasy Tips

Chahar will relish bowling in these conditions and his battle against Dhoni will be one to look out for. Chennai’s Harbhajan will like to bounce back from an expensive return in the previous game.

Dream 11 Prediction

Suggested Playing XI No. 1 for Head to Head/Small Leagues

Wicket-keeper – Quinton de Kock

Batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis (C)

All-Rounders – Hardik Pandya (VC), Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja

Bowlers – Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir

Fantasy Tips

Raina’s return to form couldn’t have come at a better time for Chennai. When Raina starts firing at all cylinders, Chennai is a much more dangerous outfit. The left-hander is a good pick because he will be looking to make up for his low scores earlier this season.

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Grand/ Mega Leagues:

Wicket-keeper – MS Dhoni

Batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Shane Watson (C), Faf du Plessis

All-Rounders – Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya (VC), Dwayne Bravo

Bowlers – Lasith Malinga, Rahul Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir

Fantasy Tips

Shane Watson is due for a big one and he loves performing at the big stage. He will be looking to repay the faith instilled in him by the team management.
