The All-India Senior Selection Committee will meet in Mumbai on Monday (October 23) to pick the Indian team for the T20I series against New Zealand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the news in the Press Release on Sunday. The selection committee led by MSK Prasad will also select the teams for a warm-up tie and the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka in November. The team from Island nation is scheduled to tour India for a return series across formats which will end by the last week of December.

There is a possibility that 16 players would be picked for the upcoming series of 3 T20 Internationals against the Kiwis. The veteran left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra has announced his retirement from the International cricket after the first T20I in Delhi on his home ground. Also, it would be interesting to see if the limited-overs specialist Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina return to the set-up as the World T20 is far away in 2020.

According to the Press Release, the selectors will meet approximately at 11 in the morning on October 23. Mr Amitabh Choudhary and MSK Prasad would be addressing the meeting and the venue announced is the Cricket Centre of BCCI in Mumbai.

What about Ashwin and Jadeja?

Indian team led by Virat Kohli is constantly playing cricket for a long time now and have seldom been rested in last few months. So it remains to be seen if some of the senior players are rested for the shortest format of the game. Moreover, soon after the conclusion of series against Sri Lanka, the Men in Blue would fly to South Africa for a gruelling tour of 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is. Also, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who are playing in the Ranji Trophy would be excited to see if they are picked as they would love to get the feel of International cricket before the Test series against the Lankan team.

Here’s the Press Release of BCCI:

Time: 11 AM (approx) Monday, October 23,2017.

Venue: 1st floor, Cricket Centre, BCCI, Mumbai.

To be addressed by: Mr Amitabh Choudhary, Acting Hony. Secretary, Mr MSK Prasad, Chairman of Selectors

Kohli scores yet another half-century

India is currently playing the first ODI against New Zealand in Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium. After opting to bat first, the openers were dismissed early by Trent Boult and then Mitchell Santner snaffled Kedar Jadhav. But Virat Kohli, as always, is trying to bail the team out of the trouble and has scored his 46th half-century. The score of the team after 26 overs was 132/3 with Dinesh Karthik and Kohli unbeaten on 31 and 53 respectively.
