Indian team has been looking for a new manager ever since the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the head coach who recently replaced Anil Kumble. Since then Indian team has been looking for a new manager as well. BCCI acting president CK Khanna has said that Indian team will get a manager soon. Indian team’s previous manager Kapil Malhotra term as manager ended after India’s tour of West Indies.

13 candidates have been shortlisted for the job of manager

The role of manager came into limelight when supreme court appointed a committee of administrators(CoA) had asked for a manager’s report of last 12 months. Kapil Malhotra filed a report but his report had no mention of the Kohli-Kumble tussle.

A proposal to make former cricketers manager of the current team was also floated. CK Khanna said that BCCI has shortlisted 13 candidates for the job. He further said that all the candidates would be interviewed before BCCI coming to a decision.

Speaking to ANI, Khanna said, “We have shortlisted thirteen names for now. We’ll interview them on Tuesday afternoon.”

Speaking of the Women’s World Cup

India beat Australia on Thursday in the semifinals to qualify for the final and will take on hosts England in the final. The hosts won 6 of their 7 games in the group phase with their only loss coming against Mithali Raj-led side. Khanna said that BCCI is confident that Indian team would return with the world cup in their hands.

The BCCI acting president also announced that BCCI has unanimously agreed to reward Indian team for their exploits in the world cup in 2017. He said that BCCI will gift Rs. 50 Lakh to each player in the squad and Rs. 25 Lakh to each member of the support staff.
