Inzamam-ul-Haq wants to see Pakistan at the top of the ICC Rankings

Inzi pointed out that it is not the end of the line for the team. He outlined their future goals of climbing to the top-most ICC Ranking, as soon as possible.

Former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq is elated at Pakistan’s victory in the recently concluded Champions Trophy. He envisions a bright future for Pakistan cricket in the coming years. Talking about the same, he expressed his hopes that Pakistan becomes the number one cricketing side very soon.

The Green Army defeated India in the finals of the 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy, by a huge margin of 180 runs. Young players like Hasan Ali and Fakhar Zaman took the onus on themselves to see their team home. The captain Sarfraz Khan led from the front in the entire tournament, with Pakistan eventually clinching the coveted trophy.

Pakistan inching their way up

They had come into the Champions Trophy at the bottom rung of the ladder, ranked at the 8th position in the ICC Ranking table. However, post the triumph in the tournament, Pakistan’s ranking has jumped right up. Owing to stellar performances all throughout and the final, emphatic victory against India, they have climbed up two steps up the rank ladder to secure the 6th spot in the ICC team rankings.

Inzamam’s future hopes:

InzInzamam-ul-Haq, who is currently the Pakistan chief selector, lauded the players’ performances. He also acknowledged the contribution of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for being instrumental in spotting young talent and grooming them for the international stage.

However, Inzi pointed out that it is not the end of the line for the team. He outlined their future goals of climbing to the top-most ICC Ranking, as soon as possible.

In his statement to the social media, the prolific right-hander of his times said, “The boys need to work harder, as we need to achieve other objectives. We are currently placed at sixth spot, Inshallah (by the grace of God Almighty) we will bring Pakistan team to the number one spot.”
