The English all-rounder became the most expensive foreign player in the history of IPL when he bagged a whopping Rs. 14.5 crores during the IPL auctions. He was proving his worth with the ball but wasn’t firing all cylinders with the bat which changed on 1st May. The southpaw smashed an unbeaten match-winning century which helped Pune chase a stiff target after getting reduced to 10/3 at one stage.

He came to the crease with Pune sliding down the barrel but he resurrected the innings with his audacious strokeplay and smashed to his way to his maiden IPL century to announce his arrival with the bat. He was especially severe on the spinners and smashed 7 fours and 6 sixes during his entertaining knock.

During crunch situation, it was the southpaw who unleashed the big shots which kept Pune in the hunt. It was sublime hitting by one the best all-rounders at the moment and he did his reputation no harm and justified his worth in the auctions.
