The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir was mighty pleased with the way his team has been faring in this season of the IPL. They recently outplayed the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their most recent fixture at Bengaluru. The win now sees them sit comfortably at the second spot in the points table. In the game, the Australian all-rounder Chris Lynn made his comeback in the season.

Lynn had lit up the tournament in the season opener for KKR by adding an unbeaten 184 run stand with Gautam Gambhir against the Gujarat Lions. However, the middle of the season saw him sit out of action due to a shoulder injury. Lynn made a strong comeback by hitting a 22-ball fifty in the game against RCB. Skipper Gautam Gambhir was very happy with the way Lynn came out all guns blazing on his return.

Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine plundered a 105-run opening stand in just 37 balls. Gambhir, as per the quotes in the cricket.com.au, hailed Chris Lynn as the hardest hitter of the cricket ball. He is amazed with the way Lynn backs himself to hit the long ball. Talking about the partnership, the KKR skipper remarked it as the best ever opening stand he has ever seen.

“I reckon (Lynn) is the hardest hitter of the ball at the moment in international cricket. The way he backs himself is unbelievable, for someone who was out with an injury for a month to play the way he did today shows the quality he has and how much be backs his game and how mentally tough he is,” said Gautam Gambhir.

“That was the best partnership I’ve seen in my entire career. You don’t expect people to get 105 in six overs. It was team management, we thought there’s no point making him bat at eight or nine because he was hardly getting any balls to face,” Gambhir added further.

He reiterated the same and commended the way Lynn took very little time to come back to his usual self on the field. He remarked it is not easy to hit the ball right from the word go after returning from an injury layoff.

“We thought if someone could go hard from the other end it could just give Lynny some time because he was coming back after a month. But the way Lynny batted today was unbelievable, from both ends it was the best hitting I’ve seen,” conceded Gautam Gambhir.
