IPL 10: MS Dhoni reprimanded for breach of code of conduct

Former Rising Pune Supergiant skipper MS Dhoni has been reprimanded for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against the Mumbai Indians. The Supergiant hosted the Mumbai Indians in their first home match of the season. They finished as the winners of the match and it marked their first victory at the home venue of MCA Stadium, Pune.

However, the IPL governing body has reprimanded the key player of the RPS side MS Dhoni. As per the reports, Dhoni was found guilty of committing the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.1). This kind of offence is said to be contrary to the spirit of tthe game. Dhoni cannot question the decision as in the cases of Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the verdict of the Match Referss in final and binding. The details about his offence are yet to be cleared in the media.

As per the official website of the IPL, level 2.1.1 breach is in relation with the IPL clothing regulations. It refers to a ‘commercial logo’ or a ‘player’s bat logo’ going against the prescribed code of conduct. This rule is there to ensure that the professional standars of appearance on the field do nott undermine the real objective of playing the game. Any alteration with the clothing equipment is said to be a breack of conduct. Apparently, there was this clothing breach that Dhoni was found guilty of.

In the match, the Rising Pune Supergiant were set a target of 184 to win after their skipper Steve Smith had asked Mumbai Indians to bat first. In the run chase, they were guided by a 34-ball 60 from opener Ajinkya Rahane and then it was skipper Smith who took them over the line with an impressive unbeaten 84. Earlier in the game, Imran Tahir was the pick of the bowlers for RPS with figures of 3/28. They won the match by 7 wickets.
