The Mumbai Indians have almost made it to the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2017. Unless there is a drastic turn of events that sees 5 teams finishing on with 16 points and MI have the least net run rate, the Mumbai Indians is sure to be the part of the playoffs. Their legspinner Karn Sharma is a happy man at the moment. He is pleased to see the team making it to the playoffs this season.

However, Karn believes that there is no room for complacency in the team at the moment. The team cannot afford to take the remaining league fixtures lightly. This is because of the fact that the team needs to ensure that they continue the winning momentum in the remaining games and subsequently take it forward in the playoffs. As per the quotes in the Indian Express, Karn Sharma spoke about this important aspect.

“We have qualified (for the play-offs), but we can’t take these four matches lightly also, we need to take momentum to the knock out stage,” quoted Karn Sharma.

Karn has not been the regular face of the Mumbai Indians playing eleven this year. He has only featured in two matches thus far. However, in the limited opportunities, he has been very impressive. More importantly, the leggie has evolved a great deal over the years. He noted that he had a few tips and tricks exchanged with veteran South African and Rising Pune Supergiant leggie, Imran Tahir, when Mumbai Indians locked horns with RPS.

“Imran Tahir is number one bowler in T20 and I learnt a lot from him (while interacting with him when Pune played against Mumbai). In T20, the leg spinners get (more) grip from the wickets, even if it is flat or otherwise,” he remarked.

Giving an update of the injured players in the team, Karn Sharma quoted that all players will be fit for the next game. Harbhajan Singh and Krunal Pandya were seen struggling in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Talking about them, Karn quoted, “Harbhajan had some problem on the left foot, he will be fine for the next match. Krunal (Pandya) is fine.”
