Royal Challengers Bangalore allrounder Pawan Negi is one of the rare bright spots for the RCB team this season. RCB have succumbed to their all time low this season with only 2 wins this season in the first 13 encounters. They have their pride to play for in the final league game of the season against the Delhi Daredevils. Negi, much like every other person associated to RCB, hopes to finish on a high.

Pawan Negi was under the scrutiny last year when he was bagged as the most expensive Indian player at the auctions. He was roped in by the Delhi Daredevils for a price as high as INR 8 crore contract. However, his lackluster show saw him being dropped from the roster. He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. Negi has had a decent run in the season.

Learning from Vettori, Chahal

He had constantly bowled economical spells. He has not quite hit the straps with the bat but surely has the ability to hit the long ball too. Pawan Negi commended the RCB bowling coach Daniel Vettori for his improved show this year. He noted that being the left arm spinner has helped him pick Vettori’s brain. Also, he learned a lot from Yuzvendra Chahal.

“It was a great experience to work with our bowling coach Daniel Vettori. I used to talk to him all the time before the start of the season and he has given me a lot of advice on how to improve my game. Daniel is a left-arm spinner himself and as a result, it was easy for him to guide me. He was always there for all of us during practice and the credit for our growth goes largely to his training tactics. I also learned a lot from bowling with (Yuzvendra) Chahal,” quoted Pawan Negi.

Word of praise for captain Kohli

RCB skipper Virat Kohli has had a dismal season thus far. He failed to click on the personal front and his captaincy has looked meek too. Despite this, Negi has backed his skipper. He called Virat Kohli to be a very supportive character in the dressing room. He further noted that playing against Delhi Daredevils at his home venue in Delhi will be a big challenge for him. He is looking forward to the final league game.

“He is a brilliant captain, but the best part about him is that he is extremely supportive of his players. Both on and off the pitch, it is not difficult to approach him and he helped me a lot this season. Personally, I think I had a good season. I was able to perform well in all areas and I will be looking to finish the tournament with a positive show against Delhi Daredevils,” said Pawan Negi.

“It is always very exciting to play in your home ground and I will try to give my best. A good performance in front of my home crowd will give me a lot of confidence,” Negi added further.
