The IPL governing council will meet on February 3 to discuss and finalise the dates for the IPL auction, which has to take place before the 2015 edition.

Previously, the auction was supposed to be held between 6th to 9th of February. But with the recent Supreme Court order is set to have serious ramifications and consequences on the IPL and the BCCI, the auction cannot be held as per the initial plan. . Now the IPL auction has to take place in the second half of February.

The council wants to avoid holding the auctions in midst of the ICC World cup 2015. The Supreme court’s orders mean that current BCCI president’s post needs to be filled with a fresh elections within 6 weeks. N. Srinivasan met with BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel in Chennai and it is understood that they discussed the ramifications of the court order with the BCCI and Srinivasan’s legal team. It is also believed that they had a teleconference with select Srinivasan loyalists, to discuss the way forward.
