IPL 2017: Full schedule of Kolkata Knight Riders

The men in purple did not have a good outing last season in the Indian Premier League but will hope to improve this time around with the strong squad they have in hand. The Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL twice under the captaincy of Indian left-handed opener Gautam Gambhir and would look to repeat the same for the third time.

If the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned franchise goes on to win the title for the third time in the 10th season they will create history by becoming the first team to win the trophy three times. The Knight Riders had their joy shortened before the start of the IPL as one of their star players Andre Russell was banned for a year for violating anti-doping codes by an independent anti-doping panel. Russell has been sidelined from the game until January 2018 which disallows him to take part in India’s domestic T20 league.

The KKR team management was pretty active in the auction as they grabbed some big names in the action which strengthens their bowling department to quite an extent. They secured the services of New Zealand pacer Trent Boult, England allrounder Chris Woakes, and Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile which gives them a wide range of variety in their bowling.

They will start their campaign from 7th April and play five matches in the space of just 11 days. Out of those five matches, three of them are crucial away games. Their last league game of the 10th season is against another two-time champion team Mumbai Indians on May 13th.

With the star power and experience they have in their squad Kolkata will want to end among the top two in the league stages and then create history by lifting the trophy.
