After 56 games across different venues in the country stretching over a month, finally, the league phase of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has come to an end. The hustle-bustle of qualifying for the playoffs among the limited available spots has now come to a full stop. The top 4 teams are Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supergiant, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have emerged as the table-toppers with 20 points to their name from 14 matches. On Saturday night (May 13) at the Eden Gardens, the Rohit Sharma-led MI managed to edge over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 8 runs registering their 10th win of the season. Mumbai had rested its key players for this game but still managed to get over the line. The win meant MI will play the Qualifier 1 on May 16 (8 PM IST) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Earlier on Saturday, defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Gujarat Lions (GL) by 8 wickets to confirm their place in the playoffs as well. Hyderabad ended up their league-phase with 17 points while KKR finished with 16 points to their credit.

On Sunday (May 14) in it what was a virtual shootout, Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) thrashed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 9 wickets to pave way for the second-place in the points table. In a must-win contest for both the franchise, Punjab could not handle the nerves as they were bundled out for a score of 73. However, Pune will be missing out on the service of their all-rounder Ben Stokes in the knockouts as he flies back to fulfil national duties.

2. Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) – 18 points
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)- 17 points
4. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)- 16 points
