Virat Kohli has been a flamboyant skipper ever since he donned the role for Royal Challengers Bangalore, but an IPL trophy is still missing from his cabinet. However, the batting dynamo looks determined to break the jinx and turn around their fortunes this time. RCB might not have had a fairytale start, winning just 2 of their 5 games so far, but South African batting stalwart AB De Villiers has expressed total faith on their skipper.
De Villiers himself has been in good touch this season so far scoring 212 runs in five matches. The South African batsman played a clinical role in the previous encounter against DD scoring a quickfire 90 to romp RCB to their second win this season.
Addressing to the media, AB de Villiers said Virat Kohli has been fantastic as captain of RCB, proving his mettle time and again under difficult circumstances. The 34-year-old was quoted saying by First Post during an event, “The true judge of a good captain is when you don’t perform well and still do a good job while leading a side. He has come through with flying colours when it comes to that. He has been a fantastic captain for us.”
RCB’s journey so far
The Virat Kohli led side are gradually growing into the tournament. After losing their season opener against KKR, the team showed great character to win their next match comprehensively. The team has failed to convert tight or close situations in their favour, a factor that Kohli will need on his side if he fancies making it to the business end of the tournament.
RCB next face second-placed Chennai Super Kings who returned to the fray after a 2-year hiatus. Dhoni, till now has marshalled his troops impeccably and the points table justify that. The marquee clash, which is billed to be a high octane encounter is set for tomorrow at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
