IPL 2018: Brands that have surged in Ad volume during the ongoing season

The Indian Premier League (IPL) presents a great opportunity for young Indian as well as the international players to rub shoulders with some great cricketers. The IPL platform helps them achieve great success. However, it doesn’t just help the players but also presents an opportunity for various brands to showcase their products through advertisement during the course of the tournament. It is a big occasion for the brands to attract customers during the course of the league. 

Massive growth in aerated soft drinks category

With more than half the matches done in the season, television data monitoring TAM Sports has released a report where it suggests that till now the advertisement for the aerated soft drink category has been ruling the prime time slot. The data released by TAM Sports is from the 1st match to 31st match.

Notably, there were speculations that the aerated soft drinks category will see a decline but exactly the opposite has happened. The category has soared by 478 percent in terms of Ad volumes. Last year, there was just 1 brand in the category which has gone to 4 this season. Interestingly, the categories of pan masala/zarda/gutkha too recorded a jump of 80 percent.

Mobile handset category continues to be the leader

Cellular phone service companies have also managed a fair amount of time and have registered an 80% growth.  Another surprise in the report was the paint companies category which has recorded similar growth as the cellular phone services.

However, as long as Ad volumes are concerned, the handset category continues to be the leader in the advertisement category.
