The Delhi Daredevils (DD) played their last match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. Prior to the game, rain imposed itself owing to which it was decided that both sides will have 18 overs to play.Ajinkya Rahane’s decision to bat first backfired on them as Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer went hammer and tongs from the word go.

Shaw was dismissed by RR spinner Shreyas Gopal after which Rishabh Pant, along with his skipper took full advantage of the conditions. Subsequently, the hosts put up a display of their dominance with the willow and notched a humungous score. Rajasthan bowlers looked hapless and leaked runs at a rate which might have taken the game beyond their radar.

Delhi’s much-needed victory

Meanwhile, the heavens strained every sinew to play spoilsport in the contest. As a result, the Royals were set a revised target, of 151 in 12 overs which was daunting, to say the least. However, Jos Buttler, the English wicketkeeper-batsman had other ideas. The swashbuckling cricketer took the bowlers by the scruff of their necks and peppered the boundaries with sheer ease.

He raced away to an 18-ball fifty which took the sting out of the likes of Avesh Khan. However, Amit Mishra nipped him out, which turned out to be a body blow for them. D’Arcy Short found the going tough initially but came on to his own in the latter stages. Nevertheless, Iyer’s boys managed to hold on to their nerves and registered their third victory by 4 runs (DLS Method).

Despite their string of defeats in the initial few games, the Daredevils have been in a positive frame of mind, which was also reflected in the team bus while the players were coming to the venue. Iyer and Pant were busy with an impromptu dance with their eyes closed. Both were sitting beside each and the video of their moves is just so lovely.
