IPL 2018: Defending champions Mumbai Indians start ticket sales

Mumbai will take on Chennai in the opening encounter of IPL 2018.

With the 11th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) knocking at the doors, three times champions Mumbai Indians started their ticket sales. They play their first match as well as the opening encounter of the tournament on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium against the former champions Chennai Super Kings.

The Super Kings are returning to the star-studded tournament after a two-year ban, while Mumbai will be participating as the defending champions. The classic rivalry between the two teams over the years has been neck to neck in the IPL over the years. Mumbai retaining their key players Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya along with the two RTMs in Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard.

Chennai bought back most players who formed the original team including captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, vice-captain Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo. The first match is thus expected to be a treat for the T20 lovers. The tickets for all of Mumbai Indians’ matches will be available online on the BookMyShow app and website, their official ticketing partner.

Other than that, the tickets can also be purchased over the counter at the box office counter of Wankhede Stadium (Gate No. 2) and some Reliance Sahakari Bhandar retail outlets.

Tickets priced between 800-8000

Out of the seven home matches, Mumbai Indians have released the tickets for six, all priced between INR 800 and INR 8000. The stadium has been booked for the 14th April match against the Delhi Daredevils for the underprivileged children as a part of the Reliance Foundation’s social campaign ‘Education and Sports for All’ (ESA).

Initially, the tickets can be purchased only by JioMoney users, which also falls under the large business umbrella of Reliance Industries. JioMoney customers are getting an exclusive seven-day advantage to book the tickets before it is made available for other online payment mode users from March 21 onwards.

The team management has also gone made special arrangements for the fans with physical disabilities or mobility impairments to enjoy the matches in real time, real place. The front two rows of Vijay Merchant Block L Level 1 have been kept reserved for such spectators with further facilities like wheelchairs and dual seats for their companions.
