The cricketing venue of the Eden Gardens in Kolkata is one of the most popular venues in the cricketing world. The stadium that accommodates over 60000 people in the stands has been awarded as the Best Venue for the IPL 2018 season. The same was announced by the officials recently. After having received the honors, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) were delighted to have been named as the best venue.

During the IPL 2018 season, Eden Gardens hosted the 7 home matches for the two time champions – the Kolkata Knight Riders. In addition to the league stage games, the venue was also shortlisted for two important playoffs matches. The venue hosted the Eliminator and the Qualifier 2 this season. Much to the delight of the fans, they got their home side, the Knight Riders participating in both the matches at the Eden Gardens.

In the Eliminator, they were happy to see KKR beat the Rajasthan Royals to march in to the Qualifier 2. It was a disappointing end for the fans in Qualifier 2 as the home side was beaten by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nevertheless, the venue gave some great cricketing memories this season.

The CAB head, former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, was mighty pleased to see the Eden Gardens getting such good honors yet again. He took to micro blogging site Twitter to thank the BCCI for the opportunity and the accolade. He also thanked everyone who contributed to this success. Ganguly shared the tweet on behalf of the CAB. He hopes to continue in the same way in the coming years as well.

Here is the ‘thank you’ tweet posted by Sourav Ganguly:

“CAB GETS IPL HONOURS The CAB is happy to inform that Eden Gardens has once again been awarded the best venue and ground of IPL 2018. The CAB takes this opportunity to thank all who have contributed to this success beginning with the ground staff, @bcci@icc,” Sourav Ganguly wrote in his tweet.
