Veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is one of the most iconic players in the history of the IPL. Under his leadership, the Kolkata Knight Riders lifted the title twice. Also, his personal form in the tournament has always been great. This season, he is set to lead the Delhi Daredevils. It is worth noting that Gambhir had started off his IPL career with the same Delhi franchise.

Recently, Hemant Dua, Gautam Gambhir, and Ricky Ponting attended a media interaction. At the interaction, Gambhir spoke about the feeling of playing for DD again. He remarked that he is lucky to have started his career with the DD team in the IPL and now playing for them again. But with his words, he indicated that he might retire soon. However, he was quick to add that this season might not necessarily be his last in the tournament.

“After being picked by DD for this IPL season, I said that ‘you are lucky enough if you start your career with a franchise and you get an opportunity to end your tenure with the same team’. I am the fortunate one that I am back with DD side with whom I started my IPL career. But it doesn’t mean that this is my last season,” Gautam Gambhir quoted.

Ponting means business

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed head coach of the franchise, Ricky Ponting, remarked that he is aiming to win the title for the Daredevils. He noted that he is  trying to be very motivational and just wants to instill a positive attitude in the players.

“I am trying to be more motivational than anything else. I am trying to maintain the team’s culture and the positive environment. We have 25 players in the dressing room. They are lucky to be the part DD and they got to understand that. Whenever they get the chance to play they make sure that they win the game for DD. That’s the bottom line,” Ricky Ponting quoted.
