The Lahore born South-African leg break bowler Imran Tahir has been at his pinnacle best from last year and a half. Being a regular face in South African limited over the circuit, the 38-year-old bowler has been able to lead the bowling attack from the front and give all-important wickets. In the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auction, Imran Tahir was bought by the comeback team, Chennai Super Kings at a decent price.
When the news hit Tahir’s ears, he couldn’t control his joy and took Twitter to thank the team owner and expressed his desire to play in front of a huge crowd in Chennai. He also termed Chennai’s crowd as ‘knowledgeable’, which means, Tahir is well aware of the buzz in Chennai for that seven-week stint. Further, by Tahir’s Tweet, one thing can be well adjudicated, that is, he wanted to play for this franchise.
Here’s the tweet
He said, “Very privileged to be a part of @ChennaiIPL and looking forward to playing in front of the knowledgeable Chennai crowd thanks for picking me in your esteemed franchisee @SriniMama16 #edudra vandiya poduda whistle”

Tahir carries a good IPL experience, playing 32 matches. He has snarled 47 wickets at an economy of 8.31. With the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh already in the mix, Tahir might find it difficult to feature in playing eleven right from the word go. But, he will definitely be seen on the tracks assisting the spinners.
Next Assignment
Imran Tahir is currently featuring in the one-day series against India and one will have to say, he is having a hard time in front of Indian batters, especially Virat Kohli. The pillar of South African bowling line up, as ‘they’ say, has been able to pick just one wicket in three matches he has played so far. He will look to change these numbers when he steps on the field for all-important ‘PINK ODI’ on Saturday (10 February).
