There are no shortcuts for becoming a better cricketer. Hours of practice sessions is the only way to progress. Players need to grab every opportunity that comes their way, be it bowing in the nets or playing a practice match. Over the past few years, we have seen that teams prefer to get specialists who bowl only in the nets. This ensures that the main bowlers are not over exhausted and the batsmen get a variety to better equip themselves for upcoming matches.

Consistent performers

K Vignesh and Sai Kishore have been doing well consistently for Tamil Nadu in the domestic circuit. The 23-year old Vignesh will join the KXIP camp in Mohali on Monday while the left-arm spinner Kishore will join Kings XI practice from April 2 after taking part in the TNCA Elite first division league final next week.

Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin, who hails from Tamil Nadu was appointed as the captain of the Kings XI side for the 2018 season. Having played with the two bowlers in the past, it was Ashwin who suggested the management to acquire the services of these two players to bowl during net sessions ahead of the tournament. Both Vignesh and Kishore have done well for Tamil Nadu but have failed to generate interests from any of the IPL franchises for the 2018 season.

The wiry pacer, K Vignesh has trained under Glenn McGrath at the MRF Pace Foundation. He has already bagged 61 wickets in 15 first-class matches. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 this season, Vignesh claimed a career-best 5/25 against Kerala. Sai Kishore has also earned a reputation for his accuracy in the limited overs format. The spinner made his first-class debut this season and claimed a five-wicket haul (5/26) against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Chennai in February post IPL snub.

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to start on April 7 with Mumbai Indians facing Chennai Super Kings. KXIP face Delhi Daredevils in their opening game in Mohali on April 8.
