IPL 2018: KKR appoint Heath Streak as the new bowling coach

The Indian Premier League is just a few days away and the excitement for the league is sky-rocketing. Ahead of the 11th season, all the teams are ensuring that they leave no stone unturned. The 11th season of the IPL promises to entertain the fans on a much larger scale. With revamped sides, the franchises are also roping in some top class coaching personnel to help them win the title.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who recently announced Dinesh Karthik as their new captain has also named their bowling coach for the 11th season. Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Heath Streak was named the bowling coach. KKR has blossomed under Gautam Gambhir and has also won two titles under him. However, their side looks relatively new ahead of this season of the IPL but they will want to replicate the success they had earlier.

Heath Streak named the full-time bowling coach

Heath Streak will join the Kolkata Knight Riders as the bowling coach this year. Streak worked with Gujarat Lions as their bowling coach in the last two seasons. With the Gujarat Lions no more a part of IPL, Streak will now switch bases to Kolkata. Furthermore, Streak has an abundance of coaching experience and has worked as the bowling coach of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in the past. Currently, he is the head coach of the Zimbabwean team.

Streak will replace Laxmipathy Balaji as the bowling coach for KKR. Balaji was appointed the bowling coach of CSK earlier. He also played for CSK earlier and will return as the bowling coach in their comeback year. A veteran of 65 Tests and 189 ODIs, Streak is amongst best all-rounders in the history.

Streak will look forward to work with Jacques Kallis and Simon Katich this year. Kallis is the Head Coach of the franchise while Katich is the Assistant Coach. Streak is also all set to reunite with Karthik as the latter was part of the Gujarat Lions when Streak was the coach.
