KL Rahul has been in jaw-dropping form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has trod the aggressive route and has hardly allowed the bowlers to settle into a rhythm. Rahul commenced the tournament with the 14-ball half century and has only gone from strength to strength. After eight matches, the 26-year-old has scored 292 runs at an average of 36.50 and a strike-rate of 164.97.
His opening partner in Chris Gayle has also shown breathtaking touch thus managing to score 302 runs in five games at an unrealistic average of 100.66. Both Rahul and Gayle have complemented each other and have proved to be a tormenting force the bowlers have failed to deal with. The Indian batsman thanked the Windies legend for taking the chunk of the pressure off him and mentioned that batting with Gayle is a privilege.
Rahul’s praises for Chris Gayle
“He (Gayle) is the most destructive T20 opener in the world. It is a privilege to open the batting with him and it makes my life so much easier. The Jamaican cricketer has been a crowd-favourite owing to the fearless brand of cricket he exhibits with his bat. Moreover, he keeps the audience engaged with his entertaining antics on the field. Rahul also hailed him for his attributes as a person and also mentioned that his presence acts as a fear-factor for the opponents.
“A great human being. So much fun to be around. A complete entertainer. That is what I learnt from Chris. He is always playing the game with a big smile on his face. And he enjoys entertaining the crowd even when under pressure. I think when the opposition is up against him they are always under pressure,” the Karnataka-born batsman added.
