Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been among the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with as many as two championship under their belt. Gautam Gambhir has led the franchise with authority and has been a fulcrum of the side. However, the composition of the team has somewhat been changed following the auction of the tournament in Bangalore. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir has been released by the franchise and Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the leader of the team.
Apart from change in skipper, the Knights have also altered the design of their jersey to some extent if not a whole lot. Recently, KKR released their new jersey, a combination of purple and gold, in a press conference today by HMD Global and Kolkata Knight Riders at the ITC Sonar, Pala I & II. The conference was addressed by Ajay Mehta, the vice president and the country head of HMD Global, and Venky Mysore, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the franchise.

A challenging journey ahead for the Knights
Kolkata Knight Riders have strung together an impressive squad for the upcoming season. They retained Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, the swashbuckling Windies cricketers, in the retention ceremony. In the auction they shelled out hefty amounts for the likes of Chris Lynn and Mitchell Starc. However, ahead of the event, they have been jolted with some injury concerns.
Mitchell Starc, the Australian pacer, tore a ligament in his right heel owing to which he has been ruled out of the ongoing Test against South Africa and also of the eleventh season of the IPL. Meanwhile, the Knights are yet to announce a replacement of the fast bowler. Andre Russell and Mitchell Johnson also suffered injuries beforehand, however, they seem to have recovered. Also, Sunil Narine was reported for a suspect bowling action which will also be a matter of concern for the Knights.
