The trend of chasing teams winning took a break as the batting first teams defended 190+ total for the 3rd successive game as the Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to a 71-run win. Nitish Rana’s 35-ball 59 and Andre Russell’s 12-ball 41 pushed KKR’s total to 200/9. Delhi Daredevils lost three wickets in first three overs but Rishabh Pant (43) and Glenn Maxwell (47) kept them alive in the chase. But the home team’s spinners rolled over DD’s batting to clean them up for 129 with as many as eight batsmen getting out for single digits.

All the stats and records from Knight Riders’ huge home win against the Daredevils:

1 – Trent Boult’s maiden over to Chris Lynn in the first over of the game is the first maiden over of this IPL season. KKR also failed to make a run of the last five balls of their innings where they lost three wickets.

6Andre Russell hit six sixes in this game which all against Mohammed Shami. This is only the 3rd instance of a player hitting six sixes against a bowler in an IPL game. Russell hit six sixes off Dwayne Bravo against CSK earlier this season while Virat Kohli hit six sixes against GL’s KC Cariappa in the 2016 edition.

15 – Only the second time KKR players hit as many as 15 sixes in an IPL inning. The 17 sixes by them in the game against CSK are the most for them in an IPL inning. This is also the first time any team hit as many as 15 sixes in a T20 inning at the Eden Gardens.

71 – KKR’s 71-run win in this game is their 3rd highest winning margin in the IPL. KKR defeated RCB by 140 in the first ever IPL game in 2008 and also by 82 runs in the last year’s game at this venue.

102 – Sunil Narine became the first overseas spinner to bag 100 wickets in the IPL. He is also the 3rd player to take 100 wickets for a team in the IPL. All the 102 IPL wickets of Sunil Narine came while playing for KKR. Lasith Malinga (154) and Harbhajan Singh (127) took 100+ IPL wickets for Mumbai Indians.

200/9 – Kolkata Knight Riders’ total of 200/7 is their joint highest total at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They made 200/3 in the 2010 season against KXIP but ended up on losing side by eight wickets.

341.67Andre Russell’s batting strike-rate during his 12-ball 41 is the highest for a KKR player in an IPL inning. This is also the 4th highest batting strike-rate for any player in an IPL inning. (Min: 40 runs)
